About Cambridge University
University of Cambridge is a public research university with over 18000 students from 120 different countries. Its 800 year history makes it the fourth oldest remaining university in the world and the second oldest university in the English-speaking world. In addition, the university’s International Summer Schools offer 150 courses to students from more than 50 countries.
The University of Cambridge was founded in 1209. The campus is located in the center of Cambridge and has many old colleges built around the Cam River. It also has a botanical garden and 9 art, science and cultural museums open to the public throughout the year.

Libraries and Information Services
• CU is home to over 100 libraries which holds 15 million books in total. Each college has its own library containing standard textbooks required for postgraduate courses as well as other materials. The university offers extensive library facilities in every department.
• The University Library is a copyrighted library (by law it is permitted to obtain a copy of any book published in England).

• Students are advised to register with a general practitioner upon entering university.
• Most Cambridge colleges also have a nurse who can help with the health and welfare needs of students, including assessments and minor injuries. Please refer to the university website for details.
Cambridge University- Counselling and Mental Health Support
• The university’s Counseling Service offers specialized and mental health interventions through a free, confidential and professional service to students going through psychological distress.
• In addition, two mental health counselors provide a range of support for students referred by faculty or staff with moderate to severe mental health problems.
