About Glasgow Caledonian University
Founded in 1993 with combining Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen’s College in Glasgow city, known as culture capital of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) possesses campuses in Glasgow, London, and New York.
With more than 20,000 national and international students, GCU is a world-class university for the Common Good and has partnership with many countries including Bangladesh, China, Ghana, Mauritius, Oman, South Africa and Tanzania.
GCU’s Glasgow campus is considered one of the finest and most modern campuses in the world. The British School of Fashion and British School of Leadership and Management in GCU’s London campus and the Fair Fashion Center is in GCU’s New York campus, both actively attract lots of people—whether postgraduate students or businessmen from famous brands.

- • Students with disabilities such as learning differences like dyslexia and other disabilities are provided with adjustments and assessments to complete their course at GCU with no concern. In addition to the advice and counselling by the university’s disability professionals, the Needs Assessment service also assesses the effect of the person’s disability on their study. If needed, GCU provides additional supports or adjustments to teaching and assessment arrangements including extra time in exams.

Glasgow Caledonian and University-Students’ Union
• GCU’s Student Association has a building which consists of a 24-hour computer lab, an advice centre, social spaces, radio station, and a bistro and offers various services as advice sessions, sports clubs, and societies. The students have the opportunity to join one of the 60 societies – whether cultural and faith groups or social, interest and hobby-based societies – offered by the Association. In addition, students are able to run their own society or club, if none of the current societies interest them.

International Students
Glasgow Caledonian-Welcome Arrangements
GCU holds a wide range of Open Day events and campus tours for new students to make them familiar with staffs, faculties and current students. These orientation events are for both undergraduate and postgraduate students coming to GCU.
Glasgow Caledonian-English Language Requirements
- • Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in any component) or equivalent, with exceptions.
• Postgraduate (master’s): IELTS 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in any component) or equivalent, with exceptions.
• Postgraduate (research degrees): IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (minimum 5.5 in any component), unless a higher IELTS score is required by subject area at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

- • The Glasgow Caledonian accommodation, known as Caledonian Court, is what a student looks for in a home. The Caledonian Court is located on-campus in city center and has a capacity of almost 660 students with self-contained, fully-furnished flats for six to eight people. The Caledonian Court has won Gold Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
• For students looking for off-campus housing, GCU has provided a great deal of private student housing. There are three types of such accommodation:
• Shared houses or flats – sharing the lounge, bathroom, toilet and kitchen with housemates
• Self-contained flats – own bathroom and kitchen, and a private front door
• Lodging – living in a house or flat, usually with the owner, plus house rules and check cooking arrangements
