Bournemouth has seven miles of golden sands and sparkling sea. This award-winning beach offers everything from water sports to family attractions at the Pier Approach. The reef, just east of Boscombe Pier, is Europe’s first artificial surf reef. 220 metres offshore, the reef is built up with 55 giant sandbags and is the size of a football pitch. It’s the perfect place for surfing.
For something really different why not try the Bournemouth balloon. You will experience the thrills of a helium balloon flight rising 500 metres offering spectacular views of 12 kilometres of coastline. On a clear day you can see as far as the Isle of Wight.
For culture and history you can wander off to the Russell-Cotes gallery and museum which is one of the most unique museums in the world, housing important collections of paintings, sculptures, furniture, ceramics, etc. Or why not try the Bournemouth gardens; split into three areas, starting with the lower gardens just by the sea leading to the central gardens in the town centre and up to the upper gardens. Most summer events take place in the lower gardens.
Bournemouth shopping centre offers shoppers a fabulous day out for retail enjoyment. The pedestrianised town centre is lined with shops, boutiques and restaurants. Westbourne, just on the way to Poole, offers a mix of designer boutiques, beauty stores as well as delightful delis and restaurants.
Nightlife in Bournemouth offers something for everyone from swanky cocktail and wine bars to traditional Irish pubs. Nightclubs are spread throughout the town centre with music to suit every taste.
