Oxford, the city of dreaming spires, has always been famous for its university and history. Less than ten minutes walk from the Ashmolean, you can find the Pitt Rivers Museum, located to the east of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, displaying the archaeological and anthropological collections of the University of Oxford. The Museum has more than 500,000 items many of which have been donated by travellers and scholars. Another place of interest is Bodleian Library, which is one of Europe’s oldest libraries.

Punting on the Thames/Isis River is also a very popular activity during the summertime.
One of Oxford’s main attractions is its Covered Market. Located just north of the High Street, it officially opened on 1st November 1774 and is still active today .The market is home to numerous traders more than half of which are food retailers. There are also gift shops, bakeries and sandwich shops. As well as the shops on the High Street, smaller streets of interest include Little Clarendon Street, Turl Street and Golden Cross offering specialist gift shops, boutiques, silver smiths, jewellers and other independent and unique shops.
