General Info


Twin English Centre Eastbourne has been a language school since 1969, is accredited by The British Council and is a member of EnglishUK. Our school is located close to the centre of this south-coast resort town and only minutes from Eastbourne railway station – about an hour and a half by train from London – and an easy walk from the station, beach and shops. The school building is an attractive large Victorian house with a large garden exclusively for the use of our students. Facilities include seven large classrooms and a IT suite offering free internet access to our students. In addition, the school has its own inexpensive cafeteria and a sitting-room where our students can meet and socialize after lessons. Around 1,500 students attend courses at Twin English Centre Eastbourne every year, and at any time, there are between 50 and 200 students in the school. Our students come from all over the world - in 2005 representatives from over 50 countries enrolled on our programmes. Our teachers, managers and administrative staff are friendly and informal, and are always ready to help students with any problems they may encounter - both in and out of the classroom. Our school has a friendly, happy atmosphere that makes learning a real pleasure and in no time at all you will be communicating effectively with your fellow students and friends. We provide a wide range of courses to suit your individual needs and after lessons you can use our self-study facilities and IT suite with free internet access. Living with a British family is the most effective way of improving language skills. Speaking to a native English speaker will help you to develop confidence and we believe that this is an essential part of language training. Accommodation in families differs throughout the UK from large detached houses to small terraced houses and flats. The one thing that all families have in common is that they are dedicated to providing a home away from home for students, which is very important. Students are usually accommodated in single rooms and receive breakfast and evening meals. Twins can be requested if you provide details of a named sharer.

Social Activities


Eastbourne is ideally placed in the South East of England for a safe and enjoyable stay. It is about a 30-minute journey from the cosmopolitan city of Brighton, and about an hour and a half by train to London. It is in the middle of the South Downs national park and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and old world villages. It also has, along its coastline, the famous Seven Sisters white cliffs, which are breathtaking. Eastbourne has a lively town centre, which is ideal for shopping. It also has theatres, discos and excellent sports facilities. Eastbourne hosts an annual world tennis championship, air show and motor show. Historically, Eastbourne was a health spa and became famous in the 19th century as a popular holiday destination for British people. It has a lot of beautiful old hotels and buildings including a Victorian pier. It also receives one of the highest amounts of sunshine in England and is therefore definitely the place to be!
