Description
Sidmouth International School has been successfully running Junior courses since 1983. An experienced team of well-qualified specialist Junior teachers and activities leaders organises a varied programme of teaching and leisure activities specially designed for this age group. Our aim is to provide the special care and supervision required by younger students, in the safe and secure environment of this small seaside town. First day test to ensure correct class level. 20 lessons, 15 hours of English tuition per week. Classes 09.00am - 12.30pm, Monday to Friday. Mixed nationality classes, maximum 12 students. Five language levels, from beginner to advanced. Well-equipped classrooms, open spaces and play equipment. Busy, fully-supervised leisure programme in the afternoons. Junior accommodation in specially-selected homestay families with escorted transfers between homestay and School each day. All Junior students receive a photo identity card with their homestay address and telephone number, and the School's 24-hour emergency telephone number. Junior students are supervised at all times during their stay in the UK. They are brought to School each day by the homestay family or by School minibus, and met by a member of staff. After lessons the students are supervised by activity staff who hand them over to the homestay family at 16.00. There are no evening activities for students on the Junior course. The Tweens course has been designed for students in the 12-13 years age group who still need some supervision but like a limited amount of freedom, for example shopping in small groups during the day-time when the occasion arises. They also have two evening activities each week, which include full supervision and transport to and from School / homestay. The School has an escorted bus every Saturday from/to London Heathrow Airport, with a meeting and check-in service for younger students - cost £50.00.There is also a school car service available: experienced School drivers will meet students at the arrivals gate and assist with check-in on departure. Please ask for information about a Transport Information Pack. Students on Junior and Tweens courses are placed with special Junior homestay families who have children of a similar age. Students are placed where there are no others of the same nationality. The Junior family provides the care and supervision as well as the correct environment for children of this age. All Junior homestays are checked by the local government Social Services Agency and regularly inspected by the school.
