General Info
LTC International College is a part of GEOS, an international network of schools spread across Europe, Asia, North America and Oceania. Established as a school in 1954, LTC is housed in the Duke of Devonshire's former home, Compton Place which is an 18th Century mansion standing in its own park of 13 hectares. The building is the only grade one listed building in Eastbourne. The college is in Eastbourne, which is situated in the south-east of England and has been a popular seaside resort for many years. It has an attractive coastline and just inland is some of the most beautiful countryside in England. It is officially the safest town on the south coast and one of the sunniest. The building contains 12 classrooms and extensive residential accommodation whilst the grounds include tennis courts, a football pitch and attractive gardens. There are two student common rooms (one for adults, one for juniors) with TVs, magazines and information about Britain. There are hot and cold drinks machines. There are two student telephones at LTC. You can use them to call home. Our courses teach English as a language of international communication. In classes we stress the skills of listening and speaking so that you learn to use English confidently in many different situations. We also work to develop the skills of reading and writing and to make sure you actively use the vocabulary and grammar you learn. You are placed in a class at the most appropriate level and your progress is carefully monitored throughout your stay. You can take examinations which will give you useful qualifications and we encourage and help you to do this. At the end of the course, you are given a certificate of attendance together with a report and advice for future study.
Accommodation Info
The standard of homestay is very high. The families are kind and friendly and houses and flats are clean and warm. There is a maximum of 3 students per family and no one else will speak the same language as you unless specially requested - we want you to speak English as much as possible outside the school.
Social Activities
We arrange a varied and interesting programme of cultural, sporting and social activities and excursions throughout the year. You will have many opportunities to socialise with other international students as you explore the British way of life. Tennis, football, volleyball and table tennis are available on the college campus. Our staff are always here to assist you to arrange other activities. School activities include cinema, London theatre evenings, pub evenings, bowling, Beachy Head boat trip, tour of Sussex villages, excursions to London, Cambridge, Isle of Wight, Bath & Stonehenge.
