Social Activities
Social Activities For Adults in Torquay A weekly programme is offered throughout the year with a minimum of two evening activities per week and one excursion every weekend. During July and August, there are optional afternoon and evening activities organised. Torquay has so much to offer and we want you to see as much as possible during your stay. The English Riviera enjoys a warm maritime climate with mild winters and warm summers. Torquay offers spectacular coastal walks along 22 miles of cliffs, beaches and coves. Nearby is the picturesque village of Cockington with its thatched cottages, countryside park and mansion which now houses a craft centre. A short distance from Torquay, Brixham, an ancient fishing village, is a popular destination for visitors together with the National Nature Reserve at Berry Head with dramatic views over the sea. Whatever time of year you choose to come, our student services staff are on hand to offer practical advice and suggestions about what to do in your free time. They will also help in making hotel and transport reservations, booking theatre and concert tickets and can confirm your coach ticket and flight reservations at the end of your stay. We negotiate with local suppliers so our students get the best rates for cycle and car hire. Student discounts can be obtained from shops in the area on production of an International House Student Card.
