Description
Would you like to study and work with an English company? A work placement with an English company can provide valuable life experience and could considerably improve your future career prospects. This course offers you the chance to study at Cicero and then gain work experience in the profession of your choice with an English company after completing your course. Cicero can assist you by providing a course of full or part-time English for a minimum of 3 weeks. This will help to prepare you for your work placement, which will be arranged by LAF, a specialist work placement agency with which Cicero has an exclusive contract. Placements usually last from four weeks to 6 months. If you want some general experience in an office or possibly in the field of tourism, it will be easy to arrange a placement for you in the Tunbridge Wells area. However, for other, more specialist fields such as marketing or IT, the opportunities available in London are greater. Please contact us, discuss your requirements, and we will advise you on the best alternatives. If you do move to London for the second part of your programme LAF will organise suitable accommodation for you. Study + Work placement programme consists of: Language training at Cicero Languages International (minimum 3 weeks, 15 hours per week) Work experience at a company selected by LAF Assessment (LAF assessment or University of Cambridge Certificate of Work Experience which can be done at two levels: standard and advanced.) Students requiring a visa must enter the UK on a student's visa (not a visitor's visa), covering the whole time spent in the UK (at Cicero, in the company and preparing for the Certificate). Language training must be a minimum of 50% of the total length of the programme. 1. Language Training To make a success of your work placement you will need a good intermediate level of English. Your English skills may not be sufficient for a placement when you first start your programme, but after a course of study at Cicero you should reach a level required to make a success of your placement. You can study at Cicero for the number of weeks that you require (minimum 3, although non-EU students will not usually be granted the necessary student status unless they are prepared to stay for a longer period.). Cicero will organise your accommodation for you in Tunbridge Wells during your course. 2. Work placement The work placement will be arranged by LAF. Please note that most work placements are unpaid, although some paid placements may be available in the hospitality and hotel sectors. If you are coming to Cicero for a short course (3-4 weeks) your application will need to be sent to LAF before you come to the UK. If you will be studying for a longer period (for example 6 months), your application can be made on arrival at Cicero. LAF charges a work placement fee of £350. Please note that it is not possible to work with children. Cicero Languages cannot be held liable in the event that a suitable work placement is not offered by LAF. This may be because the student's English is not adequate or for any other reason. 3. End-of-programme assessment LAF will arrange your assessment for you. EU students can choose between the LAF assessment (free) or the University of Cambridge Certificate of Work Experience (Standard £25 or Advanced £50). Non-EU students are required to complete the University of Cambridge Certificate of Work Experience.
