General Info
Established in 1990, Burlington School of English is located in a lovely residential area only 15 minutes from central London. A large building, great dining facilities, pleasant English classrooms and free internet access have made us one of London’s most popular English language schools. A wide range of English courses and emphasis on teaching quality. We welcome all levels of English. We will help you achieve your goals. The Burlington School is situated in a three-storey detached building, a short stroll from the River Thames and Parsons Green Underground station. We believe the School building is very attractive, with its pleasant classrooms, student lounge, library and self-study facilities. The School is one of the most popular and well-established English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Schools in London. Courses are offered all year round in General English, Business English, and various specialist English classes. The School's office is opened before 9am until approximately 6pm, Monday to Friday. Our School is located in Fulham, a beautiful residential part of London. Central London's tourist, cultural and business areas are only 15 minutes away by London Underground (the 'Tube'), or by car. London's Heathrow Airport is 20 minutes away by taxi or 40 minutes by Underground. The School is close to homestay accommodation, recreation facilities and numerous shops and restaurants.
Accommodation Info
The Burlington School aims to offer the best possible accommodation to all of our students. Our Accommodation Desk has written contractual agreements with all of our homestay families, and all accommodation is inspected to ensure the highest standards. The School operates its own accommodation desk, exclusively for the use of students attending the Burlington School. Before arriving in London, each student receives a short description of the type of accommodation and their host family. This includes details of the various interests of the family members and information about the house and its location. We suggest that you complete your accommodation arrangements several weeks before you arrive, especially if you require accommodation arranged by the School during July or August. This helps to ensure that you will be happy with your accommodation. You may choose to live with an English-speaking family in their home. 'English-speaking family', as used here, usually means a husband and wife, or a husband and wife with children, living in the same house. However, there are many families which have one adult and child or an adult (usually a landlady) living alone. Certain host family homestay accommodation is of an exceptional high standard, and for these homes the category of homestay plus applies. Or, you may prefer independent accommodation, either in a separate part of a family home, or in a house with other students, but no landlord on the premises. We are continually expanding the range of accommodation available, including on-site residential accommodation
Social Activities
Total English Language Learning Experience at our School means much more than simply language instruction. It also means enjoying the culture, history and social setting of English in the language's birthplace - England! The Burlington School provides an extensive programme of leisure and cultural activities throughout the year, organised by our Leisure Programme Co-ordinator. Activities are many and varied and, while some are free, a small additional payment is required for certain events. The School organises a range of afternoon and evening activities accompanied by staff members. Activities include: pub nights, video evenings and parties, which encourage students to socialise in English. Various other events provide unique opportunities for students to learn about other cultures, while trips to London’s West End shows keep students in touch with the British way of life. We also organise sports activities. Our leisure programme changes monthly to cater for students' interests and requirements. The School offers day trips and favourite destinations in London include Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and The Victoria and Albert Museum. Further away, students visit locations such as Oxford, Cambridge, Stonehenge and Brighton. Weekend trips abroad may also be arranged from time to time to places such as Amsterdam and Paris. All excursions are accompanied to provide language support and to guide the students around places of interest.
