British Study Centre Oxford offers a popular 36-week Foundation Year programme, starting in September and January every year. The BSC Foundation Year course is designed to fully prepare you for first year undergraduate business related degree studies. As well as bringing your business skills up to the right level, we will improve your study skills, prepare you for your IELTS examination, and provide you with a good background in life and culture in the UK. The course in Oxford is delivered jointly by British Study Centres and our sister college - Oxford Media and Business School. The two colleges are members of the British Studies Group of Colleges. The combination of the two colleges creates a unique product. OMBS is a specialist Business college, running courses in Business Studies, Marketing, Office Management and Fashion Studies, and in collaboration with our own employment specialists - Careers Direct - courses for Graduates. British Study Centres School of English is accredited by the British Council and is a member of English UK (The Association of Recognised English Language Schools in the UK). In addition to English Language the school is a centre for teacher training - running the 4-week Cambridge University CELTA course through out the year. OMBS is accredited by The British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education which gives guarantees of quality to all aspects of the college. By combining the expertise and experience of these two colleges we are able to provide a unique Foundation year course. This is a different product to the usual Academic Year courses offered by many language schools which are often simply 36 week English language courses. Students taking our Foundation Year Course are given subject content taught by specialist lecturers as well as English language support and study skills given by specialist English language trainers. In addition through the IT facilities at OMBS (4 networked computer suites) we are able to provide IT training, again taught by specialist IT trainers. The reputation of our course has enabled us to refer students from our course onto degrees at many different institutions. Oxford Brookes welcomes applicants who have successfuly completed the FY course and have the appropriate IELTS score (subject to an interview). In the last year students have gone onto the universities of Lancaster, Sheffield, Bournemouth, as well as Brookes to study a wide variety of different degrees - Accountancy, Business Administration, Management. We also offer an internal route to a degree where students successfully completing the foundation course can study at Oxford Media and Business School on the business Studies Diploma leading to a Bachelors degree in business Administration from Heriott Watt University in Edinburgh. We have students form a wide variety of nationalities on the courses, in the last 2 years we have welcomed students from: Ghana, Russia, Nigeria, China, Japan.
