The Law and Business Skills (LBS) programme is an intensive summer course that enables students to study business English skills that focus on legal studies and international law. There are 20-lesson (LBS 20) and 30-lesson (LBS 30) options and, for flexibility, the course is modular in format and designed in both structure and content for those requiring English language in the environment of international law, who have a work or study-related background in legal studies. Entry level is Intermediate (IELTS 5.0), or above. Law Components. The specialist components enable learners to focus on current practice in law and related legal studies, while also developing vocabulary and professional skills. Elements include: commercial law contract law European law employment law consumer protection human rights legal systems & hierarchy damages & liability current affairs & the Law criminal law intellectual property corporate law Skills Components writing presentations meetings telephoning negotiating The LBS 30 focuses on developing additional communication skills for the business environment. The teaching materials are varied and mainly authentic, and include audio and video facilities. The extra module specifically designed to build confidence through active participation in such activities as discussions, simulations and role-play.
