Finance & Business Skills The Finance and Business Skills (FBS) programme is an intensive summer course that enables students to study business English skills that focus on finance and financial services. There are 20-lesson (FBS 20) and 30-lesson (FBS 30) options and, for flexibility, the course is modular in format and designed in both structure and content for those requiring English language in the environment of international finance, and who have a work or study-related background in finance or financial services. Finance Components. The specialist components enable learners to focus on current finance issues and case studies, and to develop appropriate business vocabulary and professional skills. Elements include: financial statements, ie balance sheets, cash flow & profit & loss accounts financial ratios, analysis & comparative international accounts sources & types of business finance stock exchanges & financial markets investments & investment strategy financial planning corporate banking financial services for individuals & businesses assurance, insurance & pensions corporate brands Skills Components writing presentations meetings telephoning negotiating The FBS 30 focuses on developing additional communication skills for the business environment. The teaching materials are varied and mainly authentic, and include audio and video facilities. The extra module specifically designed to build confidence through active participation in such activities as discussions, simulations and role-play.
