Description


This intensive English course combines 15 hours a week of language development with 6 hours a week of a special subject of your choice. Language Development classes are based on the Bell Syllabus and build listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, as well as developing grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. You then choose one special subject from either Pathways to Study or Pathways to Work. Pathways to Study Preparation for University - Develop your academic study skills and prepare for the IELTS test. Ideal if you wish to study at an English-speaking university. Examination Skills & Techniques - Prepare and practise for English language exams such as: KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, BEC and BULATS. English for Business Administration - Learn about topics such as: Company Structure, Management, Accounting & Financial Statements, International Trade and the Business Cycle. Language & Skills Development - Develop your general English skills with extra practice in listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. British Culture & Heritage - Improve your English whilst learning about British history, politics and the Arts. Art & Design - Develop your art and design skills, and receive expert advice on creating and presenting your portfolio of work to study Art & Design at a British university. Pathways to Work English for Media - Learn about the styles of different UK newspapers, consider house styles and what they should cover, and learn specialist vocabulary for journalistic writing. English for Work - Learn the English you need for work, for example: attending meetings, interviews, telephoning, writing reports and doing business in different cultures.

Useful notes All dates provided are recommended arrival dates. If you wish to start on a different date, please contact us. Courses start on a Monday and we ask you to arrive the day before (Sunday). Where a UK public holiday falls on a Monday, your course will start on Tuesday and you should arrive on the holiday Monday. Classes end on Fridays and departure dates are on Saturdays. A summer supplement of £21 a week is payable on courses that fall during the period June to September.
