General Info


Basil Paterson is a prestigious city centre school for anyone of 16 years and above. It has very Friendly atmosphere - helpful staff and first-class teachers. British and international students share the same building and Self-access centre with study area, library, video viewing facilities, free internet and e-mail access are in reached. It is the largest examination centre in Scotland for the University of Cambridge Examinations, including IELTS. The school provides exciting social and cultural programme.

Accommodation Info


It is ensured that all students have the best quality accommodation whether they stay in a private home or university residence. Home stay accommodation is excellent and families are friendly and welcoming. Accommodation starts on the Sunday before the course and ends on the Saturday morning after the course finishes. Private home accommodation and University Halls of Residence can be arranged in special seasons as well.

Social Activities


Social programme runs throughout the year. It is a good opportunity for students to see Edinburgh and to meet other students. Activities in the afternoon are free, but some evening events have a small extra charge. In July and August there is something to do every afternoon and on most evenings and at weekends. From September to June, there is an excursion on Monday afternoon. Activities include visits to places such as castles, museums, art galleries, and whisky distilleries. From February-September there are also day trips (eg. to St Andrews or to Glasgow) and weekend trips to the Highlands and the Isle of Arran.
