Home to one the world’s most famous universities, carols in King’s College Chapel and punting on the river Cam, Cambridge is a cosmopolitan city with outstanding old and new architecture.

Cambridge is a delight to visit in any season, with its well preserved ancient centre, medieval streets, college courts, gardens and bridges.

Situated 90 minutes from central London, you really get the sense of living history everywhere you look. The university and its 31 colleges dominate the centre with atmospheric cobbled courts. Kings College Chapel is the grandest and most beautiful building in Cambridge and ranks amongst the most important examples of gothic architecture anywhere.

Cambridge offers a diverse choice of activities; the Cambridge leisure park is home to a 9-screen cinema as well as a 28-lane bowling alley, gym, cafe and wide range of restaurants and bars. You can also take tours down the river Cam on the cam boats or go punting down the river. You can choose from chauffeured punting, self-hire punting, and guided river tours. The botanic garden opened in 1846 and develops and displays over 8,000 different plant species in 40 acres of beautiful landscape.

For music and art lovers, there are classical, jazz and pop and folk festivals and events happening all year round. The Strawberry Fair offers music from around the world as well as ethnic food stalls and a fun fair. The Shakespeare festival in the summer has become a significant cultural event in the region and attracts over 25,000 visitors for the theatre productions that run during the eight weeks of the festival. The productions are all performed in full period costumes with live Elizabethan music.

Cambridge is shopper’s paradise. The High Street is lined with independent shops and boutiques side by side with all the popular favourites. The market is where you find books, clothes, fruit and vegetables and on Sundays there is a thriving farmers market selling organic local produce. Arts and crafts are available all year round at the All Saints Market.

There is choice of restaurants and bars available all around Cambridge covering everything from haute cuisine to fast food and in the evenings Cambridge clubbing scene has a great choice of music and venues to satisfy everyone.
