    Bellerbys College - Oxford

The Oxford campus is located in the centre, moments walk from the railway and coach stations.  Situated on a quiet residential side road with the River Thames running up one side of the school, yet only a ten minute walk to the heart of the city, an excellent location.

Oxford is a vibrant city – small enough to feel part of but large enough to offer something different each week.  The city is made up of Oxford University with its 39 colleges all around us, adding an air of academia, an air of quality and high standards of educational tradition.  But, side by side, we have fabulous shopping from typical high street shops to small unique places only found in Oxford.

We have some amazing museums – including the world famous Ashmolean which, in 1683, became the world’s first public museum.  There are enough pubs, clubs, and cafes to keep you going all year, with a great live music scene.  No trip would be complete without a visit to Christ Church College (and the famous hall where they filmed Harry Potter!), a trip down the river on a punt and a wander round The Covered Market.

When you have done all that, take some time for tea and scones at The Grand Café.  Our extra curricular programme reflects a diverse range of opportunities  within the city - sports, cultural, volunteering and so on - no reason to get bored here!

Clubs and weekly events

There are several student clubs at Bellerbys Oxford, from poetry to 5-a-side football.  In addition, from September to June, there is a weekly student social programme.  You can find copies of the programme on the notice boards in the reception and the common room at Bellerbys Oxford.

Regular events include ice skating, theatre visits, walking tours of the city and trips to see the local football team.  Other special events are held throughout the year, including a fun run, summer picnics in Christ Church Meadows and international food nights at the college.

We asked a sample of students in the Oxford college common room to name their favourite activity on the social programme.  Football came out as firm favourite with 23% of the vote. 14% said that the visit to Christ Church was their favourite, 11% said fun in the park, 9% said DVD night, 9% said Pitt Rivers Musuem, 6% said nightclubs and the remainder voted for The Oxford Tour, the Musuem of Modern Art, volleyball, a trip on the sightseeing bus, a visit to the Ashmolean Musuem and trips to Brighton, London or Cambridge.

Excursions

Students can also join trips organised by an experienced tour operator.  Tickets for these excursions can be bought from reception.  Full-day excursions often include trips to the university city of Cambridge, to the cathedral town of Canterbury and other picturesque cities, towns and villages.  These excursions typically cost from GBP 20-30.

Adventurous students can also join in on weekend trips - to destinations around Britain and overseas such as Scotland, Paris, Dublin and Amsterdam.  Prices vary but a typical weekend trip will cost around GBP 120 inclusive of travel, half-board accommodation and a sightseeing tour.

During the summer, the college itself organises a full programme of excursions.  You can find out more from Student Services.
