General English

These courses are offered to those who wish to acquire or improve their English language skills.

They are offered at all levels from beginner to advanced and courses include lessons in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

A typical lesson will offer either; new items of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or conversation and sometimes a combination of all four.

Most general English courses are taught primarily or exclusively through English even at the very lowest levels.

Teachers aim to engage all the students in active communication from the start.

Students are encouraged to practise as much as possible in the controlled environment of the classroom and then to use English as often as possible outside.

Homework assignments are given and time is spent reviewing this work in class.

Regular revision and testing is an important part of all courses.

Most courses offer attendance or achievement certificates.
